5-Day Wildlife Expedition to Rwanda and Uganda

Overview

This 5-day cross-border expedition explores two countries of East Africa—Rwanda and Uganda. Discover Rwanda’s Akagera National Park, home to the Big Five, followed by an unforgettable mountain gorilla tracking experience in Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park. The journey also includes cultural encounters, scenic views, and visits to natural landmarks.

Tour Plan

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your company driver-guide and begin your Kigali city tour. Visit landmarks such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Kandt House Museum, and local markets. After lunch in the city, transfer eastwards to Akagera National Park. Arrive in the evening and check in at your lodge.

Begin your day with an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park, which is home to the Big Five and numerous other wildlife species and birds. After lunch, depart for Musanze District near the Uganda border. Arrive in the evening and check in at the guest house.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and procedures. Begin your trek in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. Once found, spend an hour observing them in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge in the afternoon for relaxation and overnight.

After breakfast, visit a local coffee plantation near the Uganda-Congo border for a tour and tasting session. Learn about the traditional coffee processing methods. Enjoy lunch at the plantation before setting off for Kigali for your evening outbound flight.
