6-Day Luxury Kenya Safari
Overview
A Luxury Kenya Safari gives you the chance to enjoy Kenya’s wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and comfortable lodges in one exciting journey. This 6-day fly-in safari takes you to Samburu National Reserve and the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Flying between the parks saves time and reduces long hours on the road. This gives you more time for game drives, wildlife viewing, and relaxation.
Your adventure begins in Nairobi, where you take a short flight to Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya. Samburu has dry plains, rocky hills, and the Ewaso Nyiro River, which provides water for many animals. The reserve is known for the Samburu Special Five. These are the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx, and gerenuk. These rare animals are mainly found in northern Kenya.
During your stay in Samburu, you may also see elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, crocodiles, and many bird species. The Ewaso Nyiro River attracts wildlife throughout the day, making it one of the best places for game viewing. Your luxury lodge provides comfortable rooms, good meals, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful views of the reserve.
The Luxury Kenya Safari then continues with a direct flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve. The Mara is famous for its wide grasslands, rich wildlife, and large numbers of predators. It is home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and many antelope species.
Between July and October, the Masai Mara hosts the Great Migration. During this time, large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles enter the reserve from Tanzania. Some animals cross the Mara River while facing strong water, crocodiles, and waiting predators. Even outside the migration season, the Mara offers excellent wildlife viewing throughout the year.
Throughout this Luxury Kenya Safari, you will enjoy domestic flights, professional guides, private game drives, luxury accommodation, and full-board meals. The contrast between Samburu’s dry northern wilderness and the Mara’s green plains makes this safari special. It is ideal for couples, families, honeymooners, and travelers who want to explore Kenya in comfort.
Tour Plan
Your Luxury Kenya Safari begins with a morning transfer from your Nairobi hotel to Wilson Airport. After check-in, you board a small aircraft for your flight to Samburu National Reserve.
As the plane leaves Nairobi, you enjoy aerial views of farms, hills, rivers, and the dry landscapes of northern Kenya. The flight takes less than two hours, allowing you to reach the reserve without spending a full day on the road.
After landing at the Samburu airstrip, your safari guide welcomes you and transfers you to Samburu Simba Lodge. On arrival, the lodge staff will offer you a refreshing drink before helping you check into your room.
After lunch and a short rest, you leave for your first game drive. Samburu is home to the Samburu Special Five, including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx, and gerenuk. Your guide will help you identify these special animals and explain how they survive in the dry environment.
You may also see elephants gathering near the Ewaso Nyiro River, lions resting under thorn trees, or leopards moving through the river forests. Crocodiles and many bird species can also be seen near the water.
As the sun sets over the rocky hills, you return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, you leave the lodge with a packed lunch for a full day of wildlife viewing in Samburu National Reserve.
The morning is a good time to see animals because the weather is cooler and many species are active. Your guide takes you through river forests, open plains, rocky areas, and dry bushland.
You may see elephant families crossing the river, crocodiles resting on the sandy banks, and baboons searching for food. Lions and cheetahs may be seen hunting, while giraffes and antelopes feed across the plains.
Samburu is often quieter than Kenya’s larger reserves. This means you may enjoy wildlife sightings without many other safari vehicles nearby. The quiet setting gives this Luxury Kenya Safari a more private and peaceful feeling.
At midday, you stop at a safe picnic area and enjoy your lunch surrounded by nature. After lunch, the game drive continues as you search for more wildlife and birds.
Later in the afternoon, elephants may return to the river to drink and cool down. The soft evening light creates excellent conditions for photography.
Return to Samburu Simba Lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to the airstrip for your flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
The flight gives you beautiful views as the dry northern landscape changes into green grasslands and open plains. Upon arrival in the Masai Mara, your guide meets you at the airstrip and transfers you to Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
The lodge is located on a hill and offers wide views of the surrounding plains and the Mara River. After checking in, enjoy lunch and some time to relax.
In the afternoon, begin your first game drive in the Masai Mara. The reserve is known for its large wildlife population and open landscapes. You may see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, and many birds.
The Mara is also one of the best places to see predators. Lions may rest under trees, cheetahs may watch the plains from termite mounds, and leopards may hide in the river forests.

After breakfast, depart with a packed lunch for a full day of wildlife viewing in the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Your guide takes you across the reserve’s grasslands, river areas, and acacia woodlands. The morning hours offer a good chance to see predators because lions, leopards, and cheetahs may still be active after hunting during the night.
You may see large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, and buffaloes. Hippos and crocodiles can also be seen near the Mara River.
If your Luxury Kenya Safari takes place between July and October, you may witness part of the Great Migration. During this season, large herds enter the Masai Mara from the Serengeti. The Mara River crossings are often the most dramatic part of the migration.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a safe and scenic location inside the reserve. After lunch, continue exploring different areas of the Mara as your guide searches for more wildlife.

Today, you enjoy another full day in the Masai Mara. Having two complete days in the reserve gives you more time to explore and increases your chances of seeing rare animals.
After breakfast, leave the lodge with your guide and packed lunch. You may visit areas that were not covered the previous day.
Look out for lion families resting together, cheetahs searching for prey, and leopards resting in trees. You may also see elephants moving with their young, giraffes feeding on acacia trees, and large herds of antelopes spread across the plains.
Your guide will explain animal behavior, wildlife conservation, and how different animals depend on one another. This makes your Luxury Kenya Safari both exciting and educational.
An optional hot-air balloon safari may be arranged at an extra cost. The balloon ride begins early in the morning and offers beautiful views of the Mara from above.
You may also choose to visit a Maasai village to learn about traditional homes, beadwork, cattle keeping, songs, and dances. This visit is optional and paid separately.
