Tour Plan
Your adventure begins early in Windhoek.
At approximately 7:00 am, meet the scheduled shuttle at Windhoek Truckport and begin your journey toward the Namib Desert.
The drive to the Sesriem region covers approximately 345 kilometers and normally takes around five hours, depending on road conditions and stops along the way.
Instead of being simply a transfer day, the journey introduces you to Namibia's changing landscapes.
Travel toward the Naukluft Mountains and pass through beautiful countryside as the city gradually disappears behind you. One of the major scenic highlights is Spreetshoogte Pass, which provides impressive views across the surrounding landscape.
You will also pass interesting viewpoints as you descend toward the Namib Desert.
Upon arrival, check in at The Desert Grace, your accommodation for the next two nights.
Take some time to relax after the journey and appreciate your first views of the desert.
Later in the afternoon, head out for a 2- to 3-hour sundowner dune drive.
The late afternoon is a wonderful time to experience the desert because the softer sunlight creates beautiful colors and shadows across the dunes.
Return to your lodge after sunset.
Dinner is available at the lodge at your own expense.
Accommodation: The Desert Grace
Wake early for the biggest highlight of your Book Namibia Safari experience.
Today, you will join a guided excursion into Sossusvlei, one of Namibia's most famous natural attractions.
The morning hours provide some of the best conditions for exploring the dunes because temperatures are cooler and the rising sun creates dramatic shadows across the red sand.
One of the day's highlights is Big Daddy, one of the tallest dunes in the Sossusvlei area.
Travelers who are comfortable with the climb can make their way up the dune and enjoy spectacular views across the surrounding desert.
Continue toward Dead Vlei.
This remarkable white clay pan is surrounded by towering red dunes and contains ancient camelthorn trees. The dark trees standing against the white ground and orange-red dunes create one of the most recognizable scenes in Namibia.
Your guide will explain more about how the landscape developed and how plants and animals manage to survive in this extremely dry environment.
The excursion also includes a visit to Sesriem Canyon.
The canyon was formed over a very long period by the Tsauchab River cutting through layers of rock and sediment. Walking through parts of the canyon provides a completely different view of the desert landscape.
The guided excursion normally lasts approximately five to six hours and includes entrance fees, brunch and refreshments.
Return to The Desert Grace after your tour.
The remainder of the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the peaceful desert environment.

Today you leave the Sossusvlei region and travel toward Namibia's Atlantic coastline.
The journey passes through more spectacular desert scenery, providing another opportunity to appreciate the enormous size of the Namib.
Travel past the Tropic of Capricorn and continue toward the impressive Kuiseb Canyon.
The Kuiseb River creates an important natural division across this part of the desert, and the surrounding landscape provides excellent opportunities for photographs.
Continue toward Walvis Bay on the Atlantic coast.
Here, you will stop around the Walvis Bay Lagoon, an internationally important wetland known for its birdlife. Depending on the season and conditions, flamingos can sometimes be seen feeding in the shallow waters.
Enjoy lunch before continuing north toward Swakopmund.
Your journey ends in this popular coastal town, where German colonial architecture, restaurants, beaches and desert activities create a very different atmosphere from Sossusvlei.
You can extend your stay in Swakopmund, continue exploring Namibia's coastline or connect this short desert experience with another safari.
The itinerary can also operate in reverse, beginning in Swakopmund and ending in Windhoek.
For travelers who want to Book Namibia Safari without committing to a long itinerary, these three days provide an excellent introduction to the country's desert scenery.
