Join an exciting 12-day Uganda photography safari tour with expert guide and explore some of the best wildlife destinations in Uganda and Kenya. This journey is designed for travelers who love wildlife, nature and photography. You will have plenty of opportunities to photograph animals, birds, forests, lakes and beautiful African landscapes.
Your adventure begins in Uganda with a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls National Park. Photograph rhinos, elephants, giraffes, hippos and other wildlife before enjoying a boat cruise along the Nile River. The powerful Murchison Falls also provides a beautiful setting for landscape photography.
Continue to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking before traveling to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy a Kazinga Channel boat cruise and game drives where you can photograph elephants, hippos, buffaloes, birds and other wildlife.
The journey then takes you through Ishasha, famous for tree-climbing lions, before reaching Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Here, you will trek through the rainforest and photograph mountain gorillas in their natural home.
Your Uganda photography safari tour with expert guide then continues into Kenya. Explore Lake Naivasha by boat, cycle through Hell’s Gate National Park and enjoy wildlife viewing at Lake Nakuru.
Finish your adventure in the famous Maasai Mara, where open grasslands provide excellent opportunities to photograph lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras and wildebeest.
Throughout the safari, your guide will help you find good positions for photography while respecting wildlife. Early morning and late afternoon activities provide beautiful natural light.

Tour Plan

Your Uganda photography safari tour with expert guide begins when you arrive in Uganda.
Meet your safari guide and start the journey north toward Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is an exciting place to begin your wildlife photography experience.
Join trained rangers for a guided walk in search of rhinos. You will have opportunities to photograph these large animals while keeping a safe distance. Your guide will help you choose good positions without disturbing the wildlife.
Continue toward Murchison Falls National Park.
Visit the Top of the Falls and watch the River Nile rush through a narrow rocky gorge. The powerful water, mist and surrounding landscape provide excellent photography opportunities.
You may also see baboons, birds and other wildlife as you travel through the park.
Later, check into Parkside Safari Lodge. Spend the evening relaxing, charging your camera equipment and preparing for the next day's activities.

Wake up early for another exciting photography day.
You may choose an optional hot-air balloon safari for beautiful views of Murchison Falls National Park from above.
Later, enjoy a morning game drive. Search for elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, antelopes and many other animals.
Your expert guide will help position the vehicle so you can take photographs while keeping a respectful distance from the animals.
After lunch, board a boat for a cruise along the Victoria Nile.
Photograph hippos resting in the water, crocodiles along the banks and elephants coming down to drink. Look for kingfishers and other colorful birds around the river.
Later, enjoy another game drive during the softer afternoon light.
Return to Parkside Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, leave Murchison Falls and begin the journey toward Kibale National Park.
This travel day offers many opportunities to photograph Uganda's countryside. Pass green hills, tea plantations, villages and farms.
Your guide can help you identify interesting landscape photography opportunities along the way.
When photographing local people, always ask permission before taking pictures. Respectful photography helps create a positive experience for both visitors and communities.
Arrive at Isunga Lodge and check into your accommodation.
Later, prepare your camera equipment for tomorrow's chimpanzee trekking experience. Forest photography can be different from open savannah photography because there is less natural light.
Your guide will explain how to photograph wildlife quietly without using flash.
Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying views of the surrounding countryside.

Wake up early and travel to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking.
After a ranger briefing, enter the forest and begin searching for a habituated chimpanzee group.
Once the chimpanzees are found, enjoy the chance to photograph them as they feed, climb, rest and interact with each other. Flash photography should not be used around the primates.
After the trek, enjoy lunch before continuing to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Later, take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.
The channel provides excellent photography opportunities. Look for hippos, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles and many birds around the water.
Finish the day with an evening game drive across the plains.

After breakfast, travel south toward the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Ishasha is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Search the large fig trees where lions sometimes rest during the day.

If you find them, your guide will position the vehicle at a respectful distance so you can take photographs without disturbing their natural behavior.

Continue toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After checking into Rushaga Gorilla Haven's Lodge, join a Batwa cultural experience.

Meet members of the Batwa community and learn about their traditions, history and relationship with the forest.

Ask permission before taking portraits and respect anyone who does not wish to be photographed.

Return to the lodge and prepare for tomorrow's gorilla trek.

Today is one of the main highlights of your Uganda photography safari tour with expert guide.
After breakfast, attend a gorilla trekking briefing before entering Bwindi Forest with trained trackers.
Walk through the rainforest in search of a mountain gorilla family.
Once the gorillas are found, enjoy your allowed viewing time. Photograph their faces, movements and family interactions while following the instructions given by your ranger.
Avoid flash and sudden movements around the gorillas.
After completing your trek, return to the lodge before traveling to Lake Bunyonyi.
The peaceful lake, green hills and small islands provide a completely different photography experience.
Optional activities such as zip lining and the Ninja course may also be available.

After breakfast, begin the journey toward Entebbe.
Stop at the Equator for photographs and a short break. You can stand near the line separating the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and visit nearby craft shops.
Continue to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya.
On arrival, meet your Kenya representative and transfer to Fairview Hotel.
The rest of the day is relaxed, allowing you to prepare your camera equipment for the Kenya section of the safari.

After breakfast, travel toward Lake Naivasha.
On arrival, prepare for a boat trip across the lake. Lake Naivasha is an excellent destination for bird and wildlife photography.
Look for hippos resting in the water and photograph cormorants, fish eagles and other water birds.
Your guide will help you identify good photography opportunities while keeping a safe distance from wildlife.
The lake can be especially beautiful during the late afternoon when the sunlight reflects across the water.
After your activities, return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.

Begin your morning with an adventure at Hell's Gate National Park.
Explore the park by bicycle while enjoying views of volcanic cliffs, open landscapes and wildlife.
Photography here focuses on landscapes and the dramatic rock formations found throughout the park.
After the activity, continue to Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive.
Search for rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes and other wildlife. Depending on conditions, you may also see flamingos and other water birds.
The lake, acacia trees and surrounding hills provide beautiful backgrounds for wildlife photography.
Later, continue to Mbweha Camp for dinner.

Wake up early for a morning game drive at Lake Nakuru.
The morning light provides another opportunity to photograph rhinos, birds and other wildlife.
After the game drive, begin your journey toward the Maasai Mara.
Travel through the Great Rift Valley and enjoy views of Kenya's changing countryside.
Arrive at AA Lodge Mara and check into your accommodation.
Depending on your arrival time, you may have a chance to explore the surrounding plains.
Your guide will also prepare you for the following day's full safari in the Maasai Mara.
Charge your camera batteries and prepare your equipment for an early start.

Wake up early and begin your full-day photography safari in the Maasai Mara.
The early morning is an excellent time to look for predators. Search for lions, cheetahs and possibly leopards as they move across the plains.
You may also photograph elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest and many other animals.
Your guide will help you find good positions while making sure the animals have enough space to move freely.
Spend time observing wildlife instead of rushing between sightings. Waiting quietly can sometimes lead to special moments such as hunting behavior, family interactions or animals moving through beautiful light.
Enjoy lunch during the safari before continuing your game drive.
Return to AA Lodge Mara later in the day.

Enjoy breakfast before beginning your journey back to Nairobi.
Along the way, you may stop to shop for Kenyan crafts, beadwork, fabrics and carvings.
